Coen Crew B-17 Memorial

Coen Crew B-17 Memorial

The dedication of a new memorial to the lost crew of a 91st Bomb Group B-17 Flying Fortress that went down in the English Channel near Paluel, France on 28 March 1943. After D-Day, 6 June 1944, crippled allied aircraft could land at Lucky Strike just outside Paluel, France instead of ditching in the English Channel. The entire ten man crew of the B-17 were killed including several that were killed by German machine gun fire as they were parchuting from the doomed aircraft.
